9th Trade (Sept.3/2012)
($1500 Landscaping Labor traded-up to Low-Flow Sprayer)
(Blaine and I making the trade official)
(Earned 5% ITT for being Trader #9 = 5% of profits for Penny #1)
When I traded-up to the $1500 Landscaping/paving Labor, I had no idea of what to expect in terms of offers that would come in.  I had a few interesting offers...a broken down BMW (parts car), a year of yoga (trade didn't "work out"...lol), and a couple of other things, but nothing that I would have considered "Bigger & Better".  With the summer season coming to an end and the window of opportunity closing to have a landscaping project started, I was beginning to get a bit worried that I'd be holding onto the $1500 Landscaping Labor until next April, when people would begin to plan a new look for their yard.
Luckily, along came an offer from Blaine, who told me that he needed some work done at his cabin.  He made me an offer I truly couldn't refuse and we began to work out the trade.  Jeff, the landscaper from the previous trade, made his way out to Winnipeg Beach and started his work which basically sealed the deal.  Blaine is very happy with the work that has been done and has even decided to have Jeff come back next year to do additional landscaping projects.  I'm very pleased that this trade worked out for everybody and even happier that we've got this new item to trade up.
You might be wondering....What the heck is that thing?!?!  I wondered the same thing when I first saw it too.  lol  Well...it turns out that this thing is a bad-ass Low-Flow Industrial Sprayer.  Originally, this was purchased in 2006 and was apparently used for a few years to paint a fleet of buses for a very large and well known Winnipeg based company.  I was told that this large company ended up going high-tech and changed the way they painted their buses, so they didn't need this anymore.
This low-flow sprayer has been kept in amazing condition and even though there's a couple of minor scrapes in the exterior paint, all of the fittings and connections look brand new.  When we plugged this in to ensure that it worked, I was very surprised by how quiet this machine is.

The dolly that this sprayer comes on makes it portable and easy to move.  Plus, there is a fairly long hose which helps with distance.
The fittings look brand new and are in awesome condition.
2 filters and it has new looking pressure gauges.  Even the filters supplies look new.

Thanks again, Blaine.  I really appreciate this trade and I hope you enjoy the landscaping that has been done.  Also, congrats on getting married!  And to Jeff, thanks for going above and beyond to ensure this trade went well.  I truly appreciate it and hope the best for you and your landscaping career.  Keep doing the amazing work that you do!
If you're in need of a great low-flow sprayer for your projects or to help out your business, don't hesitate to make me an offer to trade for this.  Your offered item will be considered the "final item" in this penny's path and after trade is official, I'll be posting your offered item for sale.  Once this "final item" is sold for cash, you'll be receiving 10% of the profits!  So, you'll not only get the sprayer, but you'll also be getting money at the end of the race!!!  Email offers and let's work out a trade.

8th Trade (April 13/2012)
(Tattoo for Paving/Landscaping Labor)
When I first posted the tattoo for trade on kijiji, numerous offers started to fly my way.  There were a lot of interesting offers, some of which really made me think.  I found myself holding off a bit...I'm not sure if it was out of indecisiveness or from a hesitation of knowing that something really amazing was still to come.  Either way, I held off on agreeing to anything, to give myself some time to think and weigh my options.  This was a smart decision for me because I ended up getting an offer that was more than twice the price of the tattoo and extremely awesome, especially since it can be used in so many different ways.

(Jeff and I....and Farrah, making the trade official)
This new item comes in the form of a contract.  The contract agrees to fulfill a maximum of $1500 worth of landscaping or paving labor.  This works out to 300 sq/ft at $5 a square foot of work, where most companies will charge anywhere between $6-$8 per square foot.  The options are truly endless as to what work would and could be done.  Jeff seems to have an elevated level of  landscaping and paving passion, along with an extensive knowledge of his job, as he's been a foreman for a landscaping company here in Winnipeg for a while now.  With a love for doing retaining walls with Barkman products and raised patios with brick steps, regular and two-tiered patios, and numerous landscaping projects, Jeff has earned himself a great reputation just from word-of-mouth, some of which come from just seeing the steps that he can do.
This item is for labor only, as the future trader will be responsible for the purchase of any brick, base, and hauling away of any materials.  All of these can be purchased through Jeff's contacts at a discounted price.  Jeff will also provide the customer with a written 1 year warranty on the work that's been done.  He's been providing his services through Kijiji for the past 5 years, and even though it's kept him fairly busy in his spare time, he's never had a customer return to him for repairs.  He takes great pride in his work, so it's done right the first time.
Brick work isn't the only thing this experienced landscaper knows how to do.  Jeff also enjoys moving landscaping rock, such as river wash, planting shrubs/trees/flowers, and doing sod and soil (sod cutter available to rent for a discounted price).  There's so much that can be done with this offer!  Like I said before, the possibilities are truly endless.
Once your offer that I can't refuse is made for this $1500 worth of labor, Jeff will be contacted and arrangements will be made for a proper estimate by him.....in this case, I'm kind of the "middle-man" to a certain degree, but Jeff will let you know exactly what can be done within this trade.  If you have any questions in regards to this item or about anything in The Penny Race, please don't hesitate to email your questions to:
penniestoadream@gmail.com
All questions will be answered ASAP.  Please be sure to only offer items or services that are Bigger & Better than this amazing $1500 worth of landscaping/paving labor.  The bigger the next item, the better the chance that all of the traders in this Penny's path will earn more cash for the percentages that they have earned for trading.  Check out the InCENTives To Trade, as this should provide a better explanation of how to earn for being a trader in the race.
Jeff, I just wanted to take a second and thank you again.  This is truly a very generous offer and will never be forgotten.  I know you'll be happy with your tattoo and hope that you send some photos once it's healed....I'm very excited to see what you end up getting done.  You'll be in good hands with Fat Phil.  Also, happy 5th anniversary to you and your wife!  Take care and talk to you soon once offers come in for this........I'm still a little amazed that this was started with a penny and now it's up to a $1500 item.
7th Trade (Feb.18/2012)
(Car Stereo Package for Tattoo)
(Fat Phil and I....and Farrah, making the trade official)
That's right....I said it.  Tattoo.  What a sick trade!  I was contacted by 3 time award winning tattoo artist, Fat Phil from Rogue Tattoo and Piercing, and he made me an offer I couldn't refuse.  For the Car Stereo Package, he offered his talents as a tattoo artist. This item will start off with a consultation, where Fat Phil will tell you what he can and can't do.  This is for a full 6 hours of his tattooing time, and with 25 years of experience....that's enough time for him to do about a half-sleeve! Fat Phil will do a complete custom drawing of your tattoo before application, and after the initial healing, he'll also do free touch-ups.  So freakin' wicked!  Check out Fat Phil's site and gallery HERE.

This was a fun trade for us.  Michelle, Farrah, and I really enjoyed meeting Fat Phil.  I now know how small this world can really be, as we figured out that we both used to live in Hanna, AB. (My hometown)  I'm still amazed by this.
Thanks again, Fat Phil.  I really appreciate this trade.  As much as I would love to use this coupon on myself and get what would be my first tattoo, the trades must go on.  I hope the best for you all at Rogue Tattoo, and when I finally make my decision to get a tattoo, I'll be coming to you.
To get this, all the next trader needs to do is make me an offer I can't refuse.  Why pay for a tattoo when you can just trade for it?  Save your cash and make me an offer.
6th Trade (July 15/2011)
WOW is really the first word that comes to mind on this trade.  Man, how I wish I could keep this for myself.  I really miss the stereo I used to have in my Trans Am.  The deck, amp, and sub pumping that beautiful bass through my home town.  My parents would always say that they knew I was coming home because they could hear me 5 blocks away.  lol
The trade went well and I had a great time at Brad's place, a house that he and his lovely family are still getting settled in to.  I really hope the new Home Theater System makes your basement pound with the quality surround sound....now, all you need to do is figure out where to mount the TV.  :)

5th Trade (May 1/2011) (Hockey Cards for a Home Theater System) SAMSUNG HOME THEATER SYSTEM
(Marc and I making the trade)
It's taken almost 4 months for the Old Hockey Cards to get traded-up, but in my opinion, it was worth the wait.  The newest item up for trade is a Samsung HT-AS600 Home Theater System.  I had a serious decision to make, as another offer had been made the same day that had me a little torn.  But, out of the 2 offers, I felt that this item had a better chance in the race. Marc, thanks so much for making this trade with me.  What a perfect time to do it too, with the Easter Bonus of 5% ITT to add at the end of the race, on top of the ITT percentage that you earned just for making this trade official.  Thanks for making the journey to Winnipeg, with the flood detour turning a 40 minute drive into over 2 hours, and meeting me at my in-laws house.  I have good feelings about this penny (not only because it's My 1978 Penny).
This Samsung Home Theater System is in excellent condition.  Not only does it still have it's original box with Styrofoam packaging, but it also comes with an easy-to-understand quick set-up manual and receipt from when it was purchased.  Marc has taken great care of this and has even thrown in some extra A/V cables for the next trader. I'd also like to thank Ben for making the other offer.  It was very generous.  Keep watching the race for items that you might like to trade for.
4th TRADE (Dec. 31/2010)   (Backrest and Dock Clock for Hockey Cards)
I had such a great time with this trade.  It took over 2 months, but the Soothing Sound package was finally traded!!!  So, without further adieu, I present to you the 5th item from the 1978 Penny (my penny).... HOCKEY CARDS!!!
These cards were traded New Year's Eve day.  Thanks Chad, for making such a great offer.  This is such an appropriate trade for my penny's path, as I was big into hockey cards when I was younger, but it had become such an expensive hobby and I ended up falling out of it.  This trade kind of brought back a piece of my childhood and I have to thank you again, Chad.  You truly deserve the 10% Christmas Present Percentage for this trade.  GO! 1978 GO!
Steve Yzerman 2nd Year O-Pee-Chee 1985 Card #29 (approx. value $45)
Luc Robitaille Rookie Card O-Pee-Chee 1987 Card #42 (approx. value $25)
Andy Moog Rookie Card O-Pee-Chee 1981 Card #120 (approx. value $30)
Denis Potvin Rookie Card O-Pee-Chee 1974 Card #195 (approx. value $40)
Wayne Gretzky 2nd Year O-Pee-Chee 1981 Card #106 (approx. value $70)
Wayne Gretzky 2nd Team All-Star O-Pee-Chee 1980 Card #87 (approx. value $50) (All approx. values are taken from the highest value at abdcards.com.  Cards listed on that site are priced under a grading system to determine the correct value of each card.  The cards available in this trade have NOT been graded, which could result in cards being of a lesser value than the approx. value posted under each card.  The Wayne Gretzky #87 Card was a difficult card to get a price on, so the link on the value is from a different site than the rest of the cards posted.)     3rd TRADE (Oct. 22/2010)    (Video Game for a Backrest and Dock Clock)         What a great trade!  The StarCraft game was traded for these awesome items.
The first item is a Homedics Folding Massage Backrest.  It takes 2 D batteries (New pack of batteries included).  It is perfect for anyone that loves to lean up in bed to read a book or watch TV.  It's also great for someone that has just had surgery.  It has a great vibrating massage for the lower back, cup holder, 2 magazine holders, and 2 arms that fold up.
This is the backrest folded down.
The other item that comes with this trade is an iMode Clock Radio with docking station for iPod.
 The Clock Radio features:
PLL digital AM/FM stereo
Digital AM/FM tuning
Wake to iPod/radio/buzzer
This is compatible with:
iPod with video
iPod nano
iPod mini
iPod (with 30 pin doct connection) It also works with the itouch, but won't charge it.
With the Docking Station for the iPod, you can play music from your iPod while the iPod gets charged while it's docked.  You can also connect non-docking iPods, other MP3 players and other audio devices, but the cable needed to do that isn't included.
Alicia and I making the trade.
If you're wondering if this person looks familiar, that's because she is...Alicia.  She was the first person to trade for one of the pennies.  This penny.  I would never say that a person couldn't trade more than once.  What ever it takes to put your penny in the lead.  She's been a true supporter of PTAD since the day she read my first listing on Kijiji.  She wants to see her penny win the race and has chosen to trade for a second time to advance her penny so that it's running neck-to-neck with Penny #3 (Farrah Faucet).  Way to go, Alicia.  I hope your husband enjoys the game and that he doesn't miss (or even remember) the massaging backrest and docking station.  I have a feeling that these will trade quickly, so anyone that wants to make an offer should do it quickly.  Remember to be the person that makes me an offer I can't refuse, so to solidify your position in the ITT and to trade these 2 excellent items with me.
2nd Trade  (Sept. 26/10)     (Pen for a Video Game)
StarCraft Battle Chest (with expansion pack)
Comes with all you see here (notice the W.O.W trial at bottom)
It's the StarCraft Battle Chest!
Thanks for the trade, Brian!  This will probably go a little faster than a hat.
1st Trade (Sept 18/10)   (Penny for a Pen)
One Talking Quagmire Family Guy Pen
This is the next item up for trade.  It is a Talking Quagmire Family Guy Pen.  It says 6 different things including Quagmire's signature, "Giggity Goo!"  The speaker is surprisingly loud and clear.  Unfortunately, there isn't any ink left, but a refill can be added.  Make me an offer for trade while this item lasts.
Alicia and I making the trade in Starbuck, MB.  Thanks again Alicia, for being the first person to believe in this experiment.  I hope that this is the first of many, many trades to come.  It was great meeting you and I appreciate all the support and enthusiasm you have for PTAD.
1978 Penny (Traded)
After careful examination of my choices for the pennies to use in this experimental race, I came to the conclusion that the best choice was to start with a penny that I feel would be lucky for me.  1978.  I was born in April of '78.  This penny has been out in the world for 32 years!  Just imagine the hands that this has gone through.  How many different purchases was this used in?  Who knows, but being the year I was born...it just seems lucky. This is the first contestant in the race.  Does this penny seem lucky to you, too?  If so, help it out.  Make the trades to help "My Penny" win the race
