7th Trade (Jan. 27/2013)

(Year Pass to Vertical Adventures for a Heart Shaped Diamond Earring)

(Alex and I making the trade.)

(Earned 2% ITT for being Trader #7 = 2% of profits for Penny #2)
A new trade has emerged.  It's taken just over 8 months, but the 1 year pass to Vertical Adventures has finally been traded up!  There's a definite increase in value, and if you're a strong believer in diamonds and precious metals, you'll appreciate this trade.  Just remember, this penny's path was started with a 1982 Penny.  Now, through the generosity of strangers, I've been able to take that single penny and trade it up to this.

Inside of this beautiful jewellery box, is the next item in The Penny Race.  Just as gorgeous as the box it comes in, is a heart shaped diamond earring.

This one stamped 14KT white gold Gent's solitaire post stud earring with butterfly clip contains one bezel set heart shaped cut diamond, measuring 4.00x3.60x2.27mm (depth est.) approximate

Clarity: SI-2
Color: G-H
Cut: Good
Total weight of diamond: 0.20ct.
Total weight of Post Stud Earring: 0.50gm
Total retail replacement value: $575.00 CDN (Gold @ 1644.50CDN)

The earring comes with the appraisal sheet from a well known Winnipeg gemmologistThis appraisal was done on March 16, 2012.  Although the appraisal sheet is a bit worn, it shows the true value of this beautiful diamond.

Don't wear earrings?  This diamond would also make a beautiful gift if it was to be mounted in a ring.  I'm looking to trade this earring for something Bigger & Better, so please email any offers to me at:

penniestoadream@gmail.com

Thanks again, Alex, for making such a generous offer.  I hope your son enjoys the Vertical Adventures pass and that it helps him to become an experienced climber.  It's a great way to burn off some excess energy, as well.

  6th Trade (May 26/2012)

(Garmin eTrex Venture HC for 1 Year Pass to Vertical Adventures)
Justin and I making the trade.

(Earned 1% ITT for being Trader #6 = 1% of profits for Penny #2)
This is the type of trade that really gets me excited about The Penny Race and what we're trying to accomplish.  Justin was surfing Kijiji and noticed the GPS, and since he had recently started getting into Geo-caching and is also the owner of "Winnipeg's Only Indoor Rock Climbing Facility", he made me an offer I absolutely couldn't refuse.   We went down to Vertical Adventures  to make the swap with Justin.  With quite a few busy bodies in the facility climbing and repelling the numerous (and high) rock walls, a good handshake sealed the deal between the two of us.  What a cool looking place and, although a little bit intimidating to someone that has never done rock wall climbing before, I know that I'll be returning soon to give it a go.

Whether you're new to rock wall climbing (like me) or if you've experienced a real cliff side and just need to train your body to a higher standard, Vertical Adventures is the place to do it.  With the offer that Justin has made me, you'd be able to go for a LONG TIME!  In trade for the Garmin GPS, Justin offered me a 1 YEAR PASS to VERTICAL ADVENTURES and to put the icing on the cake, he also included another certificate for A ONE HOUR PRIVATE LESSON, where you'll have the chance to learn and get familiar with anything from belaying, to lead climbing, to self rescue techniques.

Thank you so much, Justin, for making such a generous offer.  I really got the sense that you understand what PTAD is attempting with The Penny Race.  I can't wait to come to Vertical Adventures and push myself to pass any of the limits or expectations of what I think my body can do.  I saw a couple of wicked angles on those insane walls that I would like to attempt.
I urge all of you PTAD fans and followers to check out the website for Vertical Adventures or even head down to:
77 Paramount Road (off Inkster Blvd.)
to check out the facility.  You can also give them a call at:

I have to admit, I don't really know too much about GPS units, but from what I've seen and the reviews that I've read about the Garmin eTrex Venture HC, this is a great little unit.  If you enjoy, or have heard about GeoCaching, this is a wonderful unit to do this.  I just found out about GeoCaching and would love to try this out.  This item has never really been used and still has it's protective film on it.  It was won in a draw, but is still basically brand new, other than being turned on a few times.  Other maps can be purchased and/or just downloaded and installed.
A Big thanks goes out to David for making me the offer that he did and for meeting up with me to make the swap.  I hope you guys had a blast bowling and sorry for taking so long to get this item up and posted.  Hopefully this will trade up to something fantastic.

1982 Penny (Traded)
This would be the year my wife was born.  Her name is Michelle and she is the beautiful mother of my daughter.  She is an amazing woman, which makes me truly feel like this is a lucky penny.  Help her penny win the race.  This penny really does deserve to come in first, but that will only happen if you are willing to make a trade.
